Around fifty automobiles have been marked with what appears to be blood from a person in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a release.
Police report they were notified during the night on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a banned symbol, they stated.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Nazi symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement report preliminary tests indicate the liquid was probably blood from a person.
"At present there remains no clue as to its origin; investigators are currently not informed of any injuries in relation with the event," they commented.
City officials stated they were working "to solve the case" and have requested to the residents for tips.
A senior representative commented the attack made him speechless and required to be addressed promptly.
"This incident affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he wrote on online, recalling the murder of nine people by a shooter targeting individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
