A resurgent Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for over two years with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has experienced a challenging period, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in especial - caused him falling of the elite rankings and finally splitting with long-term trainer Cervara.

Presently training with his coach and Goetzke, he has consistently advanced in the past month - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first title after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hardcourt after March of 2023.

The win also means Medvedev has secured twenty-one victories at 21 different tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters together, so to get a title is especially meaningful," said tennis professional the champion.

"This title is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, comprising in Halle in the past months.

His retrieving play style and recurring outbursts on court had prompted commentators to wonder if his ability to compete at the highest level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform positively, reinforced by an better serving game.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, securing 4 of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players exchanged break points in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his initial professional victory, took control to create a final set.

The opponent defended four early-game chances in a close final set before the champion broke to that score to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the win with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
